You may ask what's that Shariah-thing and how is it related to Islamic Banking?

Well actually Islamic banking refers to the principles given by the Shariah (Islamic law). To keep it simple this means that businesses related to

• charging interest
• alcohol
• pork-related products
• weapons and defense
• entertainment (casinos/gambling, cinema, pornography,...)
• ...

are forbidden!

In reality it far more complex and only Shariah-scholars can give answers whether something complies with Shariah-principles or not.

According to Wikipedia Shariah means

„way“ or „path to the water source“. It is the legal framework within which the public and private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Islamic principles of jurisprudence and for Muslim living outside the domain.

So at the end of the day we're talking about a very human and sustainable way of doing business and interact with each other.

That's why we truely believe the world would be a better place if everybody followed the Shariah-principles.
